It started with a missing pen.

StayPage was started by a serial entrepreneur and his wife, and it began on one of their family vacations. Same ritual every year: a rented house somewhere warm or somewhere snowy, a week that goes too fast, and a paper guestbook by the door with years of other families inside it.

On the last night of one of those trips, bags packed and kids asleep, the two of them sat down to add their page to the book. There was no pen. Not in the kitchen drawer, not by the phone charger, not anywhere in the house. The note they wanted to leave never got written, and the next family never got to read it.

Driving home, the realization would not let go. The guestbook is one of the best things about staying in a real home; the pen is just the weakest link. Everyone already carries a better one in their pocket. What the ritual needed was a guestbook that is safe for families, secure for hosts, and accessible to every guest who walks through the door, with nothing to install and nothing to sign up for.

So they built it together. A printed card where the pen used to be, a QR code, and sixty seconds: guests write their page, add their photos and stickers, sign it, and it joins the home's journal, year after year, volume after volume. The journal belongs to the home, the memories belong to the guests, and nobody ever hunts for a pen again.
