Digitize the legacy book

The paper book, kept.

Somewhere in your house there is a guest book: years of handwriting from people who stood in the same rooms, cooked in the same kitchen, watched the same weather. When it filled up, it went in a drawer. StayPage preserves it as a digital volume (front cover, every page, back cover) that opens like the book laid flat, and lives on your home's shelf where only you can read it.

Two ways in.

Both end at the same shelf. The only question is who holds the camera: you, with a wizard to guide each page, or our scanner, after your book travels to us insured.

Do it yourself

$30per journal

You photograph the book in a guided wizard, one page at a time.

  • $15 activation + $15 archive, five years prepaid
  • Guided photo capture with retakes and a running counter
  • Front cover, every page, back cover
  • Double-page spread viewer + archive PDF
  • Owner-only on your home’s shelf

Five years of archive are prepaid at checkout. After that, $15 per further five-year block. A lapsed archive is suspended, never deleted.

Professional scan

$249per journal

You mail us the book; we scan it on the overhead rig.

  • $224 professional scan + $25 insured shipping
  • Up to 100 pages included
  • Prepaid insured label, tracking both ways
  • Condition photos before and after
  • Same volume: spread viewer + archive PDF
  • Five years of archive included

Five years of archive are included in the scan price. After that, $15 per further five-year block. A lapsed archive is suspended, never deleted.

How a book becomes a volume.

  1. The book

Tell us which home the book belongs to, the years it covers, and roughly how many pages. This is also where you choose: photograph it yourself, or mail it to us.

  2. The cover

The front cover first, then the back if the book has one worth keeping. On professional orders, these become the condition photos taken before packing.

  3. The pages, or the label

Do it yourself and a guided capture walks you page by page, saving every sheet as you go, so a dead phone at page thirty loses nothing. Go professional and this step is a packing checklist and a prepaid, insured label instead.

  4. The order

The exact price, broken out before you pay: $15 activation plus $15 archive, or $224 scan plus $25 shipping. Five years of archive included. One checkout, no subscription.

  5. The proof

Read the whole volume in the double-page spread viewer, flag any page for a retake or a rescan, and approve in one action. Professional books ship home on approval.

  6. On the shelf

The finished volume takes its place on your home’s dashboard shelf, owner-only. The paper book can go back in the drawer; the drawer is just no longer the only copy.

Suspended, never deleted.

Five years of archive come with every volume, paid for up front. Thirty days before they run out, one email; $15 buys five more years. If you never renew, nothing is thrown away. The volume suspends in place, whole and intact, and renewing brings it back exactly as it was. The same promise covers everything you keep in StayPage; see pricing for the journal itself, or read how a journal differs from a paper guest book.

Digitization FAQ

What’s the difference between DIY and professional?
DIY is $30 per journal ($15 activation plus $15 archive, five years prepaid) and you photograph the book yourself in a guided wizard. Professional is $249 per journal ($224 for the scan, up to 100 pages, plus $25 insured round-trip shipping) and you mail us the book; we scan it on an overhead rig. Both end in the same digital volume, and both include five years of archive.
What exactly do I get?
A digital volume of the whole book: front cover, every page in order, and the back cover if the book has one. It opens in a double-page spread viewer, like the book laid open on a table, and an archive PDF is kept alongside it.
What happens after five years?
Nothing abrupt. Thirty days before your archive runs out we send one renewal email; $15 buys another five-year block. If you let it lapse, the volume is suspended, never deleted. It waits, intact, and renewing restores it exactly as it was.
Do you ship internationally?
The $25 shipping covers insured round-trip mail inside the US. If your bookshelf is elsewhere, contact us before ordering a professional scan and we’ll work out the safest route together. DIY has no shipping at all and works from anywhere.
What if my book has more than 100 pages?
The professional scan includes 100 pages, and most finished guest books fit. If yours doesn’t, we’ll tell you once the book is on the rig and agree any overage with you before we scan past 100; nothing extra is charged without your say-so. DIY books just keep going; the wizard doesn’t count against you.
Will my old guests’ names be public?
No. A digitized volume is owner-only: it sits on your home’s shelf where only you can open it. It never appears in your public journal, and it never becomes a year volume that guests can browse.
